For 120 years, this congregation has served as a lighthouse of Christian faith in the historic Lakeland community. The Holy Spirit continually affirms His power and ministry in us right where we are, as people from every walk and condition of life continue to come through our doors and make the decision to cast their lot with us in kingdom building.
The Lord has blessed this spiritually powerful congregation to be a loving, giving, and serving membership of believers. We believe that Christ died for our sins, was raised from the dead on the third day, ascended into heaven and now sits at the right hand of the Father, interceding on our behalf. We believe in the Second Advent of Jesus.
In a time when so much attention on the church focuses on its buildings of brick and glass, I still hold to the biblical teaching that the church is people regardless of where we worship. In a time when marketing techniques, such as those used by many Fortune 500 companies, promote the growth of many local congregations, I know that Jesus Christ will market Himself in and through us if we let Him. It is not about the numeric growth of the congregation. It is all about reaching the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and each believer's growth in the knowledge, experience, and grace of Christ.
Therefore, I am convinced that, should you visit us, you will be impressed by the simplicity of our worship and genuine love this beautiful congregation exudes. FBC, as we lovingly call ourselves, is a spiritually motivated and powerful church. We adhere to sound biblical Christian doctrine. We own a deep commitment to Christian education with a goal of making disciples for Jesus. We engage in a host of ministry clusters through which our salvation is evidenced, including:
Evangelism, Missions, Hospitality, Fellowship, Music and the arts, Children's and Youth Ministries
